Communities of interest including patient advocates, clinicians, and academic investigators gathered together to raise awareness and highlight the challenges in diagnosing and treating pulmonary hypertension (PH). The current symposium focused on whether or not pulmonary arterial hypertension specific treatments are warranted as therapies for PH due to heart failure with preserved ejection fraction, interstitial lung disease, and pulmonary veno-occlusive disease/pulmonary capillary hemangiomatosis. While agreeing there is a need for treatments that can cross World Health Organization PH classifications, the symposium clearly pointed out that improved phenotyping is still needed to better determine who will benefit from these therapies.
